Q : What is Airbrush?

A: Airbrush makeup is makeup sprayed onto the skin using an airbrush instead of being applied with sponges, brushes, fingers, or other methods.

Airbrush makeup has become more popular with the advent of high-definition video and television (HD). Traditional powder or liquid based make-up can settle and appear in pores and wrinkles and be visible on HD film. As the makeup is sprayed on, it connects with the skin as millions of droplets of formula. The formula can create an even, sheer, natural appearance to the skin that, if applied properly for a natural look, can appear natural and non-heavy like traditional makeup. Airbrush makeup wears longer than traditional powder or liquid foundation, able to stay put upwards of 12–24 hours. Its also faster!

Q : What is the difference between traditional makeup and airbrush makeup?

A : Traditional makeup is applied by hand, using a brush or sponge. It can have any number of finishes from matte to natural to fresh and dewy. Traditional makeup can be custom blended to your exact shade and offers sheer to full coverage. Airbrush makeup is applied by spraying the makeup through an airbrush gun. The makeup goes onto your skin in a pattern of tiny dots that are invisible to the naked eye, as well as the camera. With airbrush makeup, you can achieve full coverage with a very thin layer of product, thus making the skin look very natural.

Q : What is Panstick / Long stay stick makeup?

A : The thick, creamy texture of this stick foundation makes the complexion perfectly even and camouflages small imperfections. Smooth and with an excellent coverage, It lasts for a long time too. With all these pluses, the minuses are that it feels heavy, clogs your pores and causes break outs sometimes. Also, is not made for the HD camera.

Q : What is Mineral Makeup ?

A :Available in different variants of powder and Liquid. Great for people with sensitive skin. MMU is so light that it doesn't clog pores, hence, doesn't aggravate acne-prone and sensitive skin. People with allergies can even use it as it doesn't contain ingredients found in unfriendly commercial make-up.

MMU's texture is light and different. It doesn't give the wearer a feel of wearing make-up. Commercial make-up can often make the wearer feels as if she is wearing a mask. MMU melds beautifully into the skin. Even if the make up is piled on in layers for a heavier coverage, it doesn't feel cakey. You will only see a natural, translucent radiance that only great skin can give. Best of all, the make up still allows the skin to breathe.

MMU contains naturally occurring ingredients that nourishes the skin at the same time. Triple-milled minerals like titanium, gold, zinc, magnesium and aluminum naturally relax, refresh and rejuvenate the skin. Some companies have products that contain silk and pearl - the Chinese have been using these ingredients for thousands of years. With MMU ingredients, the essential vitamins, antioxidants and ingredients from the earth actually hydrates the skin and conceal wrinkles. Mineral makeup's zinc oxide offers natural UVA-UVB protection.

Q : What is HD makeup ?

A : High-def cameras expose any crease, wrinkle, or blemish. But thick, unnatural pancake makeup is also obvious through an HD lens. To avoid the cakey texture of standard TV makeup, high-definition makeups are sheerer while still hiding uneven skin texture and other un-telegenic flaws. You can see the skin through the makeup, but the makeup creates a softer focus. In other words, these cosmetics simultaneously camouflage imperfections, cover blemishes, and still manage to appear invisible. The pigments and formulas are designed to blend seamlessly with the skin.

The main difference is light-scattering ingredients. The reflective particles are what make the foundation really flattering. Diffusing light creates an illusion of an even finish so you can’t detect the flaws underneath -- like airbrushing for your skin. Cosmetics with an HD label will likely contain one of the following: mica, silicone, crystals, or quartz. These particles sit on top of the skin and help to scatter light in subtle ways. The powders are often milled to a fine consistency to help avoid detection by the cameras. Mineral pigments in a micronized texture are often present as well because they don’t settle into pores.

Some formulas may contain mattifying agents to prevent shine in oilier complexions and avoid glare. So foundations are usually oil-free. HD makeup is often made to moisturize because makeup can settle into cracks and creases of dry skin. The hydration also plumps up dry skin to make wrinkles and lines less noticeable.

Q : Do you travel to me or do I travel to you?

A : I can do either. I bring with me equipment to accommodate almost any location you desire: hotel, church, banquet hall, home, etc. I can do your makeup under a tree if you want – really, there aren't many limits. However, we would like you to make sure that the place has got enough light and a big mirror.

Q : Do you / your assistants travel outside Bangalore for makeup?

A : Yes, We do.

Q : What happens during a trial?

A : First we will discuss the details of your wedding including outfits, flowers, theme etc. We will then discuss what make-up and hairstyle should we do for each event. We encourage you to send us any reference pic that you might have for hair and makeup. We will then create a look until you are 100% happy.

Q: Is my trial mandatory?

A : Would you buy a wedding outfit without trying it on before your wedding day? We want to ensure that you're happy with the makeup you're wearing and the hairstyle you have, on your special day and the trial is when we work all of that out. On your wedding day, it's pretty chaotic and fast-paced. There isn't time to decide if you want thin eyeliner, want smokey eyes, want tong curls or blow dry curls. The trial is when we set up a plan to work off so that we can avoid unexpected hiccups.

Q : What are your charges for a trial?

A: The trial is complimentary if you are booking us. If not, there is a nominal charge for each category of makeup artist at our studio.

Q : What should I carry for a trial ?

A : It would be great if you can carry your bridal outfits. If that’s not possible, please get us a picture of the bridal outfit so that we can get an idea. It is also suggested that u carry any hair accessory that u are planning to wear like maang tika, jhumar etc.

Q : Will you have some hair accessories that I can use?

A: We have a lot of hair accessories that we source out from different parts of the country. Some can be hired / even purchased from us in case we are not able to collect it back from you after the event. We also would encourage you to bring some hair accessories to suit your outfits.

Q : Will you do a hair wash for me ?

A : If u are coming to the studio, hair wash can be done free of cost. If we are coming to the location / venue to do your makeup, hair wash by us wouldn’t be possible.

Q : How long does it take to apply the makeup, do the hair and get me ready?

A : Application times will vary depending on the style of makeup you're wearing, but these are General guidelines :

Bride: 1 hour to 1.5 hours (if a trial has taken place) (Without a trial, application could take longer) Groom : approx. 20 mins Brides maids / moms / sisters : 30 mins

Q : I am looking for makeup for small functions as well. Do you have assistant makeup artists who can do makeup for me? I want to hire you, only for the bigger functions.

A : Sure, There are more than 10 asstt makeup artists & hair stylists who work at my makeup studio. I will be more than happy to discuss their rates with you as well.

Q : I am working on a shoe string budget. Can I hire only your assistants for my wedding ?

A : Sure u can!

Q : What does each session of makeup include?

A : It includes makeup, Hair styling and saree draping.

Q : Are wedding and reception counted as two sessions or one?

A: If u plan to change your makeup etc.. for the events, it would be considered as two events.

Q : I want to change my hairstyle & my saree after a couple of hours. How do we work this out?

A : Any change in makeup, hair styling and saree draping are done at a cost. You will have to book us well in advance for the same so that the concerned artist can reach there on time / wait at the venue (possible only if the artist doesn’t have any other bookings).

Q : How do i book ?

A: You may book us by making an advance payment which shall be 50% of the total amount. The balance shall be collected in cash before the wedding on the first day itself.

Q : What is the mode of payment?

A : Cash, card, cheque or bank transfer. Please note that there will be 12.36% service tax for all the payments made through cheque, card or bank transfer.

Q : What is your cancellation policy?

A : Once you decide to book us, we block the date and time for you and don’t take any other bookings. Thus, if you plan to cancel your makeup booking with us, please note that we shall not be able to go back to our clients who might have enquired with us for the same date. Thus, all bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Q : I don’t plan to get hair styling and saree draping by you. Only makeup. Now will u reduce your rates ?

A : I wish I could ! We give u a package deal of makeup, hair styling and saree draping or help with the gown. If u decide to not take any of these services in the package, I will not be able to reduce the pricing. Well , if u ask me why ? I would say, it works like a buffet dinner or lunch, even if u decide to not have the dessert / certain other dishes, u still don’t get a discount .

Q : For Muhuratam, I would like a Muginjadey. Will u bring the hair accessories and flowers for it?

A: We can arrange for the hair extension for the same. However, hair jewellery, kuchhu and flowers will have to be provided by you. Either u can purchase them or I can put you on to our vendor from whom you can hire these items and even order flowers from. You can deal directly with them as we don’t charge any commissions for the same.

Q : Do u have bridal jewelry that I can hire?

A : We have a vendor list who can be contacted if you plan to hire jewelry etc.
